General information – The lelupi found inlake Tanganica, in his adult form, the male achieve a size  

of about 4 inches wile the female achieve a size of about 2-3 inches.

The most common form of this fish is yellow, there are also other varieties such as the blue lip lelupi,

orange lelupi, and there are more lelupi varieties that are still rare in the hobby such as the grey

and the black lelupi.

Regards to his colors and present to my opinion the lelupi is a good addition to all

Tanganica community tank.

Origin – Africa, found in Lake Tanganica.  

Size – 10cm (4inch). 

First discovered - Poll, 1956.  

NutritionCarnivore, the lelupi will appreciate live food such as worms and shrimp and

will accept flake and pellet food. 

Behavior – aggressive, can be very aggressive to his own kind especially toward other males. 

Maintenance and care– size tank up to 120 litters, recommended to decorate the tank with a

lot of hiding spaces such as caves and rocks.

The lelupi will appreciate water changes on a weekly bases and suitable filtration system.

Can populate with other strong Tanganica fish.  

Water Parameters – PH- 8-8.5, temperature 24-26, DH- 12-15.  

Breeding Egglayer, the best way to breed lelupi is to take 6-10 juvenile fish and place

them together and allow them to grow to an age of 14-18 months then it will be easy to

distinguish between the sexes,the male may grow up to twice the size of the female.

Provide a few caves and watch to see if a pair forms a bond, if you can noticed large lelupi

hanging out with a small one you can tell that you have a couple, the female will

laid the eggs in a rocky cave.

The white eggs will hatch after 3-4 days and you can feed them with fry food or with Live baby brine shrimp,

lelupi consider to be a good parents but if they will lay eggs again they will kill the fry so it

will be good idea to take them out.
